People usually focus on the tab. The receptacle doesn't get nearly as much attention, even though it's doing just as much work. A PCB tab receptacle is the receiving side of the connection. It works with mating tabs, PCB connector pins, and other connectors for PCB assemblies to create a secure electrical path that can be connected and disconnected when needed. The fit matters more than many people realize. Too loose and performance suffers. Too tight and wear becomes a concern. That's why contact force is such a big part of receptacle design. You'll find these components in both power and signal applications, often alongside PCB board pins, circuit board pins, and other printed circuit board pins used throughout an assembly. At the end of the day, a connection is only as reliable as both sides of it. The tab gets most of the credit. The receptacle earns it.
